Local In-School and Out-of-School Prgrams
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funds special programs for youth between the ages of 14 and 24 years old. Eligibility for these programs is based on case by case basis.

Out-of-School Youth Programs

Youth Employment Services Program:This program is operated out of the Columbia-Greene Workforce Career Center. It provides career planning services and 12 hours per week of pre-vocational education. The program prepares students for college, which can also include preparation for the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC™) (this is the new test which replaces the GED exam.) Internship experiences and job shadow opportunities are also arranged for those who are unemployed. Enrollment is ongoing. The class meets Tuesday through Thursday from 3:00 pm — 7:00 pm. 1 (518) 697-6510

In-School Youth Programs

Summer Youth Employment & Training Program: When funding is available, this program provides summer jobs and career exploration for youth between the ages of 14 and 21 who are still in high school. Minimum wage postions are arranged with public and private employers throughout the two counties. Access the Application for SYETP here
