SUMMARY:Overview of “Unlocking Opportunities: A Guide for Reentering the Community” Book I and Book II
DESCRIPTION:This is a virtual workshop\, please register in advance here: \nzoom.us… Tuesday\, May 19\, 2026\, 1 – 2pm \nAre you an individual with previous justice involvement? Are you someone who works with people in reentry? \nIf you answered yes to either of those questions\, then the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) would like to share a new resource with you. "Unlocking Opportunities: A Guide for Reentering the Community” is a new reentry guide intended to replace NYSDOL’s previous guide\, “The Prime Objective”. The new guide is split into two books: \n• Book I is about preparation. It talks about the actions you need to take and documents you must collect to prepare for an employment search. This first book also includes several checklists that you can use to take action depending on your timeframe for employment. \n• Book II is about job searching. It includes information on the different things that a job seeker with justice involvement needs to keep in mind when searching for work\, applying for jobs\, interviewing for open positions. It also includes useful information on what happens once work is found. \nJob Seekers and professionals will find these books to be a practical resource for finding employment. Join our webinar to learn more about them. \nFor participants with disabilities\, if you require any reasonable accommodations to participate in the event\, please notify the Customer Engagement unit at least 72 hours prior to the event at virtualworkshops@labor.ny.gov. We will make every reasonable effort to secure an accommodation that will meet your needs. \nRegistration Link: zoom.us… More info: zoom.us…
